Desktop computer will not turn on
My 24" desktop from 2009 will not turn on. I press the button and the chimes start but then the computer shuts down.
The OS is Yosemite.
Thanks for your help.

What occurs when you follow the steps in If your Mac won't turn on - Apple Support?
Thanks, but following the steps did not help. I forgot to say that the only way I can hear the chime is to unplug the computer and than reinsert the plug, After I do that I hear part of the chime but the computer shuts down immediately.
Thanks.
You may have a hardware issue, if the steps don't work then your only course is to take it to an AASP in your area. Due to the computers age and Apple Store will not work on it, however an AASP will. If you don't know of any in your area, click the link below to begin finding one:

Good luck!
Thanks for your suggestion.
I would suggest attempting to reset the VRAM first. After pressing power, hold down CMD+Option+P+R and listen for the third chime, then release.
If there is no change, attempt booting in recovery mode. After pressing power, hold down "R".
If this is unsuccessful, you may have an issue with your power supply or another part of your computer, and bringing it into the store to run some tests may be the best way to diagnose the issue.
