Utilizing the CD/DVD Drive on an iMac used as a Secondary Screen

I am purchasing a new iMac and will be utilizing my current iMac as a secondary screen. My current iMac has a CD/DVD Drive and I am curious if I can view and burn on that drive, even though this computer will be set up as a secondary screen....Thank you
