Drummer spinning wheel problem

Wondering if anyone can help me with a problem I've been having using Drummer in Logic Pro?

Every time I try to edit a drummer region, I get the spinning wheel for 10-20 seconds. Even simple actions like extending or shortening of a region gives me the spinning wheel immediately. It's become almost impossible to do anything with drummer in Logic. I'm pretty sure it's not a CPU or HD issue, because the CPU meter is low. I do have Drummer following another rhythm track. Could that be the culprit? Any suggestions/solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

using: MBP 13 (2013 / 8 gb), OS 10.11.5, Logic 10.2.3

1. If your MBP has dual graphics adapters, one hardware the second software (to extend battery life) You will need to go into System Preferences... probably Display and disable automatic display switching. This will force the hardware adapter to handle all the graphics.

2. Do Not run any other software in the background, especially the Firefox browser.

Restart the machine, run only Logic, any improvement?
