Q: unplugged iPad during update now it won't work

I have an iPad mini and was updating to the latest iPad software through iTunes when somehow, the USB got unplugged. Now, when I turn it on it just has a picture of a USB cable pointing towards the iTunes logo. I assume this mean that I need to connect to iTunes but when I plug it into the USB port, the device is not recognized. I've tried holding the home and power buttons to force it into recovery mode but it won't enter recovery mode.

    Hello, AlohaAlli!

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. From your post, I see that your iPad was somehow disconnected from iTunes during an update. Now it's prompting you to connect to iTunes, but nothing happens when you do. I use my iPad every day, so I know how important making sure it works is! I've got some troubleshooting steps that should help.

First, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes. If you're not sure if you do, use the following article to check and update if necessary.

Get the latest version of iTunes

Once you've done that, follow the steps in the article linked below to get iTunes communicating with your iPad, and the update installed fully.

If you can‘t update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    Cheers!
