Q: NEW LAPTOP AND ITUNES

I BOUGHT A NEW LAPTOP, DOWNLOAD ITUNES, SIGNED IN AND ALL MUSIC IS THERE IN MY LIBRARY. IVE ATTACHED MY IPOD NANO AND CLICK ON MUSIC TO SYNC ANY RECENTLY ADDED SONGS. I GET MESSAGE SAYING 'Are you sure you want to remove existing music, films and TV programmes from this ipod and sync with this iTunes library? Music, films and tv programmes synced to 'wendles ipod' from other iTunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced from this iTunes' I PRESSED REMOVE AND SYNC AND WHEN I GO TO RE SYNC MUSIC IT SAYS 0 SONGS IN LIBRARY BUT THERE ARE CLEARLY MUSIC IN MY LIBRARY. I LIKE TO ALSO STATE THAT IVE ONLY EVER SYNC WITH ITUNES WITH MY APPLE ID/LIBRARY AND NO ONE ELSES. I EVENTUALLY HAD TO ATTACH TO OLD LAPTOP TO PUT MY MUSIC BACK ON. IVE ALSO ATTACHED IPHONE AND IPAD, THAY SYNCED BUT AGAIN WHEN IT CAME TO MUSIC THE SAME MESSAGE CAME UP. ANYONE ABLE TO HELP? NEVER HAD PROBLEM WITH ITUNES, ONLY AN ISSUE SINCE NEW LAPTOP. SORRY IF LONG WINDED BUT WANTE

    Hi there Wendles1980,

It sounds like you have downloaded, installed, and signed into iTunes on your new laptop with your Apple ID, but when you try to sync the music across, none actually transfers. What it seems to me to be is that the music is not yet actually downloaded to the computer. In order for music or video to sync to a device it must either be 1) downloaded directly to the device or 2) downloaded into the library on the computer and then it can be synced.

To download your music to the computer use this article:

    Download your past purchases

Be sure to click Not in My Library at the top. There will be a Download All button in the lower right corner of the window to make downloading everything as simple as a single click.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Hi thanks for the advice that seems to have worked. It's just the other music I've imported from discs that are no longer in my library, I'm guessing id have to redo all that again.?

Wonderful, thank you for the update! As for your question about non iTunes purchases, you certainly could reimport everything from your CDs, but since you have access to the old computer you can also transfer the library to the new computer altogether! This article will help you get that done:
