    Mz charles,

I am not having any problems with that version of Calendar. What problems are you experiencing?

How about an new event you just created disappearing as you drag it down to place it at a time later than is currently displayed?  The event usually is discovered some other place or at an other random time, usually in the future.

How many calendars do you have checked in your Calendar List sidebar?

Are you syncing any calendars/devices...if so, what sync service are you using? (Calendar>Preferences...>Accounts)

What is your setting in Calendar>Preferences...>General>Default Calendar:?

Try changing your settings in Calendar>Preferences...>Accounts>Refresh Calendars: xxxx

    1. Good question, & perhaps the key wherein the answer lies: I have, since late '07, developed the amount of calendars I use currently to 20 different Calendars under the heading "On My Mac", with 12 "Subscribed" (10 chkd), under the "Other" Heading below.

This is because I used to have this many when Calendar (then called Mac "Agenda", if I recall correctly), historically had only one main "Calendar", with many possible "Categories".

Then Apple at one point, chose to improve (?!?!) the software, so that what were previously "Categories" of the same main "Calendar" then became different "Calendars". Do you remember that?

Now, each of my 20  sub- "Calendars" have different colors to help distinguish the different events I create.

Yes, I'm aware this is like no one else uses Calendar. I plan my whole day, from getting up to going to bed, with the main events of my day and keep track of these as the day progresses, and can see how well I stick to my planned "Events".

So, my "Calendar"  is very full of Events. I've been retired for more than 18 years now, and this is very useful to me, and is how I stay as active as I can, including a daily exercise session of never less than 1 hour every day at my gym, etc, etc.

    2. I'm not syncing with any other accounts: listed are "Charles iCloud", "Google Calendar", and "FaceBook", but I haven't chkd the "Enable" box on any of them due to problems encountered when I tried to sync with my iPhn 5 a few years ago (another issue).

    3. My setting in Calendar>Preferences...>General>Default Calendars: is "Selected Calendar"

    Mz charles,

I would agree with your premise that you may have too many calendars. Without being critical, I would encourage you to simplify your Calendar setup. Easy for me to say, but after all, you are retired. So am I by the way.

Your description of Mac Agenda is not familiar to me. I started using the Apple calendar application when it was released as iCal. Prior to being released as Calendar there used to be an ability to use calendar groups. Synced calendars stopped using groups, so I no longer use them. Here is a recent discussion which addresses groups: Creating calendar sub group el capitan 10.11.4

Only you can explore ways to simplify, or consolidate your Calendar setup. Make sure that you have backups of your calendars before making any attempts at simplification. How to back up iCal calendar data - Apple Support

Fantastical is offered for download through the Mac App Store, but that may not be an option if cost is a consideration for you.

Thanks Ferd II, you've given me somethings to work on.

BTW, in Refresh Calendars, I have "Push"; what timing would you recommend (1, 5, 15, 30 min, 1hr, or Manually)?

And I don't have an idea what "Push" would mean wr to the Calendar App if you already have the option "Manually".

Since you are not actively syncing, or publishing any calendars, the "Refresh" setting should be irrelevant.
