How do I get permanent marker off of an iPad screen?

I left my brand new iPad Pro 9.7" sitting out on the kitchen counter, and came home today to find out that our 5-year old daughter had drawn with a Sharpie (permanent marker) on a piece of paper right on top of the screen. The Sharpie ink soaked through, and is now all over the iPad screen. I tried wiping with just water, but that didn't work. What cleaning material can I use?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Pretty much any solvent you could use would also remove the oleophobic coating on the screen.

A quick internet search suggested coloring over the sharpie with a dry erase marker and then wiping. I have no idea if it would really work.
