Wifi is turning on and off on mac, why?

When I upgrade from Yosemite to El Capitan I started having Wifi issues.

My Wifi router is working great but Wifi on my Macbook Pro is unstable.

Is here any possibility to fix this problem?

Thanks for your help,

Matus

I can still experience some Wi-fi drops, but it seems that's not software or hardware issue of my Mac.

In my case the problem was causing the Wi-fi router itself (or my internet provider).

I was talking to them about this and they told me it can be happening because of the old internet cables.

I live in Slovakia and optical cables are not yet standard so I still have just ADSL type of network (2.4GHz).

If you'll still have problems with this, try contacting you internet provider 🙂

I've restarted and rebooted everything I can in my wifi connection, and I am still encountering the issue of wifi turning on and off and occasionally just staying off in which case I have to reset my mac to turn it back on. I think you are right, my only options left is to contact my internet provider like you mentioned, or go see someone in person with my mac for a possible fix if it is a software issue.

I'll post an update when I have tried one or both of these things... wish me luck.

If your Wi-Fi source is capable of generating a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, try that to help avoid conflicts with Bluetooth.
