I suppose Final Cut Pro 7 should work; concerning FCP X, only some of the very early versions (10.0.*, and maybe not all the way to 10.0.9) would work.

In any case, none of these software versions are sold any more, so it's not going to be easy.

I think that you should quickly move to download El Capitan. Your Mac can run El Capitan, but will not be able to run macOS Sierra in the fall. Since Apple retires old versions from sale, you may have trouble obtaining El Capitan later. Even if you don't install, do download it (so you will be able to redownload it later).

Your mac is fairly old, but with enough RAM (at least 8GB) and an SSD it should run El Capitan pretty nicely - huge update for little money.

You should then be able to use FCP X 10.2.3, but performance will probably be modest.

Before you go spend a lot of money, I would advise you to try iMovie. It should work and it is pretty inexpensive.
