Q: Can't open numbers file

Using the latest version of Numbers in iCloud - can't open one particular file as I get the response "Its time to update. To open this spreadsheet, you’ll need the latest version of Numbers."

MacBook Pro, iOS 9.3.2

    Hi Herbyjayne,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you want to open an iCloud numbers file, but you're receiving a message to update when doing so. I know it's nice to be able to sync your files across devices, so I'm happy to provide you with some direction to get this working again.

While you have the updated version of Numbers in iCloud, make sure that the installation of numbers on your MacBook Pro is also up to date.

How to check for app updates:

    1. Open your Apple () menu
    2. Open the App Store
    3. Click the Updates tab
    4. Install any updates that are available

Update the software on your Mac

Open Pages, Numbers, and Keynote files in iWork for iCloud

Once your software is up to date, you'll be back in business! Cheers!

extremely unuseful answer....App Store doesn't seem to find any updates required for the 2013 version of iWorks
