Q: Numbers file ‘can’t be opened for some reason’
Suddenly a few of my Numbers documents prompt the response "Numbers file ‘can’t be opened for some reason’" which effectively makes the document unavailable. Other Numbers documents remain accessible. My backup versions prompt the same response when I attempt opening them. Is there any solution?

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important being able to open all of your files in Numbers is to you!
If I understand correctly, you are unable to open certain Numbers files even from backups, but others are still working. To help narrow down this issue, I would suggests starting with these steps:
1. First, run Disk Utility and check for issues on your hard drive, as hard drive issues can cause situations like yours.

2. Next, you may want to test this in a new user, to narrow down if this is a system wide issue or specific to your user.
