my laptop does not finish the update?
trying to update ElCapitan on my laptop, does not seem to be allowing the update

Well, you have pretty much given us no information at all that we might use to help you.
You have not told us what type of computer you have, what OS X version it had previously, what steps you took to upgrade, what you saw, what completed, what did not complete, what you expected to see that did not occur.
It's much like going to a doctor's office and saying: "I'm sick. Please help me. What should I do?"
