Q: Formats / restrictions for apple email addresses

I would like to add an additional apple email to my account.  I have gone to the page for managing my apple ID to add an address, but no matter what I try, it tells me I can't use that address.  All of the addresses I have tried have used the ******@icloud.com format

    Are these net new @icloud.com addresses? It sounds like they are not and are being used as part of another Apple ID. As a rescue or additional email address.

     

    If your existing Apple ID uses any of Apple's domains, @icloud, @mac or @me, you can't change the email associated with your Apple ID.
