Q: Love Mac, don't want to use a PC, but medical transcribers need windows?  Is there a solution.  Solution must be fast as MT's are paid or production.

Medical transcribers can telecommute by downloading audio files.  Most online employers and most medical transcription schools require PC's.  I have MT skills, and Express Scribe.  Can definitely do the job, and definitely do no want to buy PC.  Is there software or something that will work like virtual PC?  Virtual medical transcribers are paid by line count, so speed counts, as does accuracy.  An MT must be able to understand if dictator has an accent, is chewing gum, dictating while driving in traffic, or while in a large talking crowd.  I really don't want to buy a PC.  Can you help.  I have a Powerbook and El Capitan 10.11.5.  I love it.  What to do.  Medical field moves slowly.  And there are HIPPA rules which dictate privacy for medical records.  What to do?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5), Solution must not slow transcribing

Yu can use Apple's Boot Camp to install windows on your Mac

How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support

You can also run/install windows as a virtual machine on top of OSX. There are free virtual machine ap like Virtual Box and paid one like Parallels.

For either method you have to purchase the window's license.

If you buy a Windows license, you can run exactly Windows on your Mac. Boot Camp Assistant (already on your Mac) allows you to set it up, and supplies the additional drivers needed for Windows to see your Mac Hardware. In its simplest form, you can boot alternately into Windows or MacOS.

You can also run Windows cooperatively at the same time using Parallels or similar programs. If you do that you can cut and paste between Windows and MacOS.

As others have have posted you can via Apple's Boot Camp utility install Windows on your Mac, you can then boot either in to the Mac or Windows operating system. This approach makes it a 100% genuine Windows machine but also means that switching between the two environments takes a normal full boot up process and the delay that incurs.

Another option is to run Windows in a virtual environment, the advantage of this is that you can then run Windows at the same time as Mac however the virtual Windows environment will be somewhat slower, it depends on the application in question and the speed of the Mac as to whether this will be acceptable.

The two leading virtualisation programs for the Mac are Parallels Desktop and VMware Fusion, Parallels has a reputation of being slightly faster. VirtualBox is a third solution and while free is much slower.

    See - http://www.parallels.com/uk/products/desktop/

    and - http://www.vmware.com/uk/products/fusion

Don't however give up on the possibility of doing this on a Mac using Mac software.

Regarding privacy and HIPPA I would suggest that encrypting the hard drive in your Mac using Apple's FileVault2 would be a solution.

PS. You have a MacBook not a PowerBook.
