Jun 30, 2016 7:57 AM in response to MikeMathisby BBoiss,Updates can bring on all sorts of unexpected anomalies. First I would recommend going through this article's instructions as I have placed down below.
Use Siri on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Get help with Siri
- If "Hey Siri" isn't working, make sure that "Hey Siri" is turned on under Settings > General > Siri.
- Siri might say, "Sorry, I'm having trouble connecting to the network," or "Try again in a little while." This is probably a network issue. Check your Internet connection and try again later.
- When you're using Siri to dictate, dictation is limited to about 30 seconds.
If Siri isn't available, or doesn't understand or respond to questions
Before you try these steps, make sure that your device works with Siri. After each step, see if Siri is working.
- Make sure that your iOS device has an Internet connection through Wi-Fi or cellular data.
- On your iOS device, make sure that Siri is turned on under Settings > General > Siri.
- Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
- On your iOS device, go to Settings > General > Siri and turn off Siri. Then turn it on again.
- If you're using an iOS device, try to use Siri with a headset. If Siri only works when you're using a headset, get help with the microphones on your device.
- Contact Apple Support.
If Siri doesn't make a sound when you hold down the Home button
On your iPad or iPod touch, Siri will chime when it's time to ask a question. If you have an iPhone with iOS 9 or later, Siri will vibrate instead. You'll only hear the chime on your iPhone with iOS 9 or later when you're using headphones.
Siri will also chime when you use "Hey Siri" on a device with iOS 9.

Backup your iPhone if you have not done so already.

Jun 30, 2016 7:58 AM in response to MikeMathisby Demo,Did you check in Settings>General>Siri>On and see if it is still enabled? Can you provide some details like what happens when you try to use Siri. You have to be specific if you need help.

Jun 30, 2016 8:06 AM in response to MikeMathisby MikeMathis,I tried all the suggestions and none of them work. I turned siri off and then hit the home button and the older voice setting open and my microphone works fine. No problem with mic at all.
So it is no longer a question of why doesn't siri respond to voice commands. The question now is when is Apple going to fix what they broke in the siri feature of the iphone?

Jun 30, 2016 8:27 PM in response to Demoby MikeMathis,★HelpfulOf course siri was turned on. I wouldn't expect it to work if it wasn't "turned on".
Ok, I'll be more specific. Siri is turned on and it doesn't work.

Jul 1, 2016 5:32 AM in response to MikeMathisby Demo,Please bear in mind that I was just trying to help. Also bear in mind that I have no way of knowing what you know and don't know and what you have tried and haven't tried. You ask a somewhat rhetorical question like Why doesn't Siri work, which would be like asking your mechanic Why won't my car start. Pretty tough to answer without some background information, IMHO.
I'm not sure what the sentence that I made in bold type means.

A Couple of other thoughts, and again bear in mind I'm just trying to go through some very basic steps. You didn't restrict Siri in Settings>Genreral>Restrictions>Siri>Off, did you? Did you try Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings? This will return all of the device settings to out of the box defaults. All settings must be entered again and the device will restart on it's own. No data is affected by resetting settings. Have you tried backing up, restoring to factory settings and then restore the backup?
If you have tried that and those steps did not help, please explain what happens when you invoke Siri? Do you hear the chime and see the colored sound wave lines on the screen?
