Q: iBooks not syncing PDFs thru iTunes or iCloud
the last time I opened iBooks on my macbook, was asked if I wanted to sync thru iCloud. Works well with calendars on my 3 devices (iPhone, iPad, macbook) so I said yes. But none of my new PDFs in iBooks on macbook appeared on my iPhone. Opened iTunes to try to sync the old manual way, none of my PDF files displayed under the books section. Attached my phone to the macbook causing the phone to sync which removed all PDFs from my iPhone. iBooks on phone is set to Sync Collections, iBooks on macbook is set to Sync Collections. iCloud on macbook doesn't have a checkbox for iBooks. How do I get my PDFs back on my iPhone? All devices are running latest iOS and OSX
MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

discovered that in addition to selecting iBook preferences...sync on my Mac, needed to manually turn on iCloud drive...ibooks on my phone, for some reason had turned on automatically on my iPad. after cycling off/on, iBooks sync now works remotely.
pdfs are not visible in iTunes since are now stored in iCloud (tho are not visible on iCloud drive, but can see storage is being used)
