I downloaded the latest version of iTunes as prompted for Windows 10. Now all of my library has disappeared except for the songs I bought from Apple. I downloaded from CDs that I lost in Sandy that cannot be replaced. Can someone help me to find them on the hard drive or are they just gone forever

We definitely want all your songs showing up after updating iTunes on your Windows machine. It's good that the iTunes Store songs are still there, but we should be able to get back the rest of the library by following the steps in this link:
If you don't see your entire library after you update iTunes on your Mac or PC - Apple Support
If the steps don't bring back all the music, then if you have a backup of the computer, it may be worth checking it for the songs and a way to retrieve them. Otherwise, the songs would be lost without the original sources.
