Notes fails to import some text?

I'm considering migrating from Evernote to Apple Notes, but seem to have a problem.

I exported from Evernote as an ENEX file, and did an import to Apple Notes.

Just by chance, I happened to notice that some text was missing from the body of a note (text that was enclosed in brackets--but this is text in the body of a note, not an HTML tag).

So I did a few tests, and found this:

a. Text in original Evernote:

<POB> POB

<pob> pob

<pob1> pob1

<1234>

b. Text after import to Apple Notes via ENEX:

POB

pob

pob1

<1234>

c. Text after import to Apple Notes via HTML:

<POB> POB

<pob> pob

<pob1> pob1

<1234>

As you can see, the EXEX export and import somehow failed to import the alpha text in brackets!

Has anyone ever seen this?

Any ideas?

[The bigger problem, of course, is that this error stops me from having any confidence in the Apple Notes import process -- what else got deleted?!

Without understanding this, I am uncomfortable moving to Apple Notes.......]

I can, of course, use the HTML import.

But it was only dumb luck that I caught this import error problem; so HTML import doesn't automatically solve my broader concerns:

"What else got deleted in the EXEX import?"

"How reliable are either of the import mechanisms?!"

"Are there other things that can go wrong in an HTML import?"

I was hoping that someone, with some expertise, could say, "Oh, you've hit the well-known ABC bug -- it only occurs when you do XYZ, and beyond that you don't have to worry."

Without knowing that, I am now reticent to trust either import......and thus very cautious about migrating to Apple Notes.....
