iTunes 12.4.1.6 entering password loop

Every time I need to access a part of iTunes that needs my password it gets caught in a never-ending loop of enter password then the dialog box comes back. now the password is correct. and its like this for any Apple ID i use. is there a fix or what do i need to do? (I'm moderately tech savvy)
