How do I add a link to a Pages document that I want to export as a PDF?

I want to add hyperlinks to various web sites into a Pages 5.6.2 (2573) document that I will export and publish as a PDF on my web site. How to I go about creating a hyperlink in this version of Pages? the older version of Pages contained an "Inspector" which allowed me to easily link from the document to any web site. It also allowed me to insert pages as needed into my document. Now it will only give me "Section" sheets as if I were doing complicated layouts instead of writing fiction (mysteries.) I am using a MAC Mini computer (purchased prior to 2013) with 500 megabites of memory and plenty of ram. My hard drive is 1.5 gigabites. My IOS is Yosemite 8.6.2.

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

PDF links were broken for a while in Pages 5 but seem to be working again in Pages 5.6.2.

You can drag or paste URLs into your document or select Text, right click on it and choose Add Link and paste an URL into that.

Pages 5 lacks Captured Pages, the internal templates that Pages '09 uses to insert preformated sections.

There is a very long list of things still missing in Pages 5.x almost 3 years after it was launched.

Pages '09 v4.3 works perfectly well, much faster, more efficiently and reliably on all Mac OS versions from OSX 10.4.8 through to the latest. Use that unless you have an iPad and need to cross transfer files using iCloud.

Hi twa,

the older version of Pages ... also allowed me to insert pages as needed into my document. Now it will only give me "Section" sheets as if I were doing complicated layouts instead of writing fiction (mysteries.)

The newer version of Pages will not insert a Section Break unless you tell it to insert a Section Break.

Here is the 'older' (Pages '09) version of Pages:

One Section.

Here is the new (Pages 5) version

One Section. Thumbnails for Pages 1 and 2 are both included inside one yellow border. One Section 😉.

Copy the link into your Pages document. By default (without other Pages settings) it will paste as text. Select the link and press command+K to make it a hyperlink. Alternatively, you can select, and then right-click the text — choosing Add Link from the contextual menu. You can right-click on an existing link, and the contextual menu will now present a Edit Link menu item.

If the URL lacks proper percent encoding (invalid characters in the address), then Pages will reset it to Apple dot com.
