Q: Whenever I connect my iPad 3rd Generation to my laptop it says "Not Charging", what do I do?

I just bought a used iPad 3rd generation and when I go to connect it to my laptop, it says "Not Charging", or it'll keep connecting and disconnecting. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

If you can, try a different USB port.

Unfortunately, since it's used, there may be hardware issues.

Many times the USB port on a laptop does not provide the necessary power to charge an iPad. As Carolyn stated, you can try another port on the laptop if you have one, or you can just charge the device using the wall plug. Another alternative is to purchase a powered USB hub that you can plug into the wall and into the laptop. That would probably deliver sufficient power for the iPad, but if the wall charger is providing ample power to charge the iPad, then the iPad is probably working correctly and it is just the USB port on the laptop. Nothing else you can do about that.
