Screen dims when I'm watching videos

When I'm watching a video, the screen dims and phone will power off. I have to tap the screen every minute to make sure it doesn't power off, which is very annoying. I would assume the phone knows I'm watching a video and won't power down. My auto brightness is already disabled, hard resetting doesn't solve the problem, and this happens on any app I'm using: Youtube, photo album, etc. My iPhone 6s is new, just got it a couple months ago. I've just recently started to notice this problem. What's wrong and how can I fix this?

Hi MathewM354,

Thank you for stopping by the Apple Support Communities. From your post, I gathered that while watching a video the screen dims and you have to keep tapping the screen to stop it from turning off. I have an iPhone as well and I depend on the screen staying on while I'm using it. I will be happy to provide some information on this. What you're describing is called Auto-Lock. It is like a screen saver for the iOS devices. Once the screen has been inactive for a period of time (determined by what you choose in the Settings app), it will go dim, and then turn the screen off. This is normal behavior. It is found in Settings > General > Auto-Lock. There you have the option to change the settings to whichever option best fits your needs.

Have a great weekend!
