Q: Today I cannot open some emails or send an email

I have an IMAC, OSX, El Capitan; today I am unable to open some emails, not all, and I cannot send an email. I have tried to delete emails I don't want and they pop back up as New emails. What's happening here?

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

With the Mac Mail app open go to the menu bar and click Window > Connection Doctor

Use Mail Connection Doctor - Apple Support

Try rebuilding the mailbox.

Rebuild mailbox

If that doesn't work, try re-indexing the mailboxes. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

Reindex messages For El Capitan, try looking in V3.
