Jul 2, 2016 6:41 AM in response to andyfromkirkbby den.thed,There are a number of things that you can do to test and troubleshoot it yourself.
If it turns on, but will not fully startup you can:
1. Reset the SMC, as per > Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support
2. Reset the NVRAM, as per > How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
3. Try safe mode, as per > Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support
4. Run a diagnostic test, as per > Using Apple Diagnostics - Apple Support
If it starts up, but then runs poorly or crashes after a short time you can:
1. Backup and reinstall OS X, as per OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support
2. Use > http://etrecheck.com/ and post back with the result.
FWIW if your local Apple Store can not help, you might find an AASP that can.
