Q: how to make the iphone and ipad discoverable to the Mac for Wi Fi and Bluetooth

iMac is 21.5in, version 10.11.5; iPhone is 5C, version 9.3.2; iPad is version 9.3.2. Each device has AirDrop capacity, and this works between iPhone and iPad, but neither device is discoverable to the iMac.  I use Pendo Broadband dongle, plugged into NetcommWireless router. The name of the ipad shows up on Computer screen and name of Computer shows on ipad screen, but they co not connect. Name of iPhone does not show up on computer screen.

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), version 10.11.5

Go to system preferences>security & privacy>firewall. Turn the firewall off and then restart. The software firewall (if it is on) blocks Airdrop.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, Barry.  This action did not solve the issue.  I developed a work around by emailing the file to myself, opening it in the iPhone, and then Airdropping it into the iPad.  I have been preoccupied with other matters at present so have put this one to the back burner.  I will approach it again when I am able to concentrate. Thanks for your interest in Mac issues, Regards,  Maureen June Brown.
