Jul 2, 2016 9:35 AM in response to susaningaby Rysz,Launch iPhoto, or Photos, if you already migrated. If you had My Photo Stream enabled, those "missing" images might already be there.
Camera Roll , where your most-recent photos are held on your iPhone stores only up to 1000 images. The older photos are probably those you synced back from your Mac.
Otherwise, you need to provide us with much more detail.

Jul 2, 2016 11:24 AM in response to susaningaby léonie,Trying to import photos from my iPhone 5 to my Macbook but only photos from March 2016 to present appear in iPhoto. The majority are from 2011-2015 and I'm running out of space on my phone. Any thoughts?
Are you trying to import using a USB connection?
Only photos in your camera roll will appear in the Import panel. If you enabled iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, many photos may not be in the camera roll but in iCloud. Then you cannot import them using USB, but need to download from iCloud.
If your photos have been synced to the iPhone using iTunes Phot Sync, they will also not be in your Camera Roll and cannot be downloaded this way.
