How to load audio book CDs to iPhone??

I have a book on CDs that won't work on my car cd player, so I loaded them into iTunes.

Now they appear as albums in iTunes - not an audiobook. Is there some way to move them to audio books or to play them in order on my iPhone?

thanks

Right-click on the files and select Get Info. Switch to the Options tab and change the Kind to Audiobook.

Depending on your OS X version, audiobooks might appear in iBooks, but you stil control their syncing via iTunes.

"Audio & Spoken Word" is the Genre; You must set the media Kind to Audiobook in order to get the pause, resume, playback speed, etc, functionality that you expect from an audiobook.

To more easily find files in iTunes, you can sort them by Date Added (to iTunes).

You can rename the files right from within iTunes, using the same Get Info window.

Thanks. that gives me some additional options - actually it states that the files are in the category of Audio & spoken word.

When I wrote the first query I couldn't even find the files...they were at the end of all music and numbered 1a, 1b thru 18y (420 files). The problem is that they sometimes sort right (when I select Sort>ByName) on my mac, but they are all out of whack on my iPhone...sometimes reverse sort (can't find anyway on the phone to change the sorting of playlists), sometimes almost random sort, sometimes by number 1a, 2a, etc.

I was hoping by moving the files to the audio book category would correct all the ordering issues.

It looks to me like I have two choices:

-start over with a new workflow (not just importing to iTunes without some controls)

-find the sources files on my hard drive and rename them all (not horrible...if I can find them, I can use an app like name mangler to come up with new naming I think).

any thoughts on these two ideas? or do you have any others?

thanks again,

tom
