Bootcamp resize issue

I have windows installed on Macbook air along with OS X EL CAPITAN using bootcamp.

I decided to resize the disk space for OS , so I reduced the size. The extra space I wanted to didicate it to Windows. So I clikced on the + sign and it asked me if I wanted to merge or add more space to it I don't remember the exact message so I said yes.

After that the extra space was added to the windows space but the drive was named to Unknown !.

I restarted my computer and windows wouldn't start , I get an error message that my windows needs to be repared or so.

I just don't know what to do next , should I reinstall windows , did I loose all my windows files.

You cannot perform such an action using Boot Camp Assistant or Disk Utility. What you have accomplished is corrupting the bootloader that lets you boot Windows. What you need to do now is backup your OS X partition, re-partition the drive, reinstall OS X, reinstall Windows partition using Boot Camp Assistant, and reinstall Windows.

Install Yosemite orEl Capitan from Scratch

Backup if possible before continuing.

Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime hold down the Command and Rkeys until the Apple logo appears. When the Utility Menu appears:

Select Disk Utility from the Utility Menu and click on Continue button.

After Disk Utility loads select the disk (out-dented entry, usually mfgr.'s ID and size) from the Device list.

Click on the Erase icon in Disk Utility's main window. A panel will drop down.

Return the disk to a single full-sized partition. Set the Format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)

Click on the Apply button, then wait for the Done button to activate and click on it.

Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu.

Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.

You may then use Boot Camp Assistant to create a partition of the size you now need for Windows. In the future, you cannot resize a Windows partition using Disk Utility. You must use Boot Camp Assistant to first remove the partition, the use it to create a newly resized partition. Or spend a few bucks and purchase Paragon's CampTuneX.

Windows , all gone ? Anyway to recover the files?

Frankly, I don't know. I do not use Windows nor have I ever tried recovering files under circumstances such as yours. What you did is not unique and hundreds or thousands of users have done the same for years. Perhaps before you re-partition the disk you might get some Windows file recovery software to see what you can recover if anything. Wish I could help you more with this aspect of the problem. I can only state the obvious - next time be sure to make regular backups of both systems. You may find better answers regarding recovery at the Mac section of the Microsoft forums.

Before you create further problems for your files on OS X and Windows, from OS X Terminal, post the output of the following commands....

diskutil list

diskutil cs list

Thank you all for your support , here is the results of diskutil list commands. I just want to recover my files now, by the way apple OS is working fine and the boot camp menu still shows , it's just that windows OS no longer exists.

You have reformatted the Bootcamp partition of an Apple HFS+ file system. You files may be recoverable. Can you download Testdisk (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download) and install it and use

El Capitan has deleted my bootcamp windows partition as a reference to run a Testdisk scan and run a Quick Search.
