Q: iPod Classic - why do some videos play with sound if opened on iTunes but not when played on iPod?

Hey everyone! Hope someone out there can help me out.

I recently added some videos to my iPod Classic. Now, I can play them from the iPod on iTunes just fine, but when I watch/listen to them on just the iPod with earphones or plug the iPod into the TV, some of the videos don't have audio. Is there some setting I'm missing or is there something completely wrong with my iPod (please don't say that's the problem haha!) Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    Hello KidTundra,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know not having any audio when watching certain videos on your iPod Classic is not what you expect.

If I understand correctly, you recently put a batch of videos on your iPod Classic that play correctly in iTunes on your computer. Some will play both audio and video, but certain videos will play audio when plugged into headphones or into a TV.

Depending on where you got these videos from, they may not have the audio formatted in a way that works with the TV. You can also check these settings on your iPod to see if you can resolve your issue:

Choose Videos > Settings, and then set TV Out to Ask or On.

Choose Videos > Settings, and then set Alternate Audio to On.
