Jul 4, 2016 12:34 AM in response to Appleboy45by K Shaffer,The second version of white iBook G3 (12-inch 500MHz) c. 2001 included one of these.
While the first version had the yo-yo round adapter that you wrapped the cord around.
{My first iBook had both; a round adapter was similar to the 'colors' G3 clamshell model
also, a 45w white adapter with illuminated DC plug was included. Later I sold the iBook
G3 'snow' white, but kept the newer white charger. I still use it on occasion with my Mid
2005 G4 iBook 12-inch; works good to charge; has only two-wire AC extension cable.}
So my best guess, is those adapters which use the toggle duck-head removable section
& the matching accessory extension cable -- were from about mid to late 2001 to now.
This from hands-on ownership & dates of associated product in original cartons I've had.
The power port segment for first build model 2004 AirPort Express uses both duckhead
and option of accessory AC cable. Same cable fits power adapter for G4 iBook/PBook
& MagSafe adapters. (The detail to be aware of, is oldest white power adapter uses a
two-wire AC power cable; later ones have three-wire - old one isn't grounded by wire.)
Not all maker branding on the AC cable accessory & some of the duck-head toggle AC
removable connections for the power supplies are the same; they were contracted. On
occasion some third-party ones may be clones. Some are quality; others not so much.
When trying to identify if an item is an official accessory cable, that may be harder since
the AC wires or toggle duck-head parts that come off the adapters have no Apple brand.
Looks like the item in question has been in use for going on 15 years. Several products
use the power toggle 'duck-head' section and the associated AC extension cable.
Good luck!
