Q: need to update my iPhoto but it keeps saying it needs the name and password when i first downloaded the app

changed my email and password on my mac...now it won't let me update iPhoto...keeps asking for my old password and email (id).

    Hi Pinkytom,

     

    Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities! I understand you're having trouble updating an app because you changed your Apple ID. I can understand ending to make sure you're able to keep your apps up to date.

     

    When you changed your email and password, did you edit your previous Apple ID to the new Apple ID or did you create a whole new Apple ID? If you edited your previous ID, you should be able to use the existing password. However, if you created an entirely new Apple ID instead of just editing it, then you would need to use the Apple ID that the app was purchased with in order to update.
