Q: El Capitan OSX Echo when on facetime call
Hi, I upgraded both my brother's 2010 Macbook Pro 15 as well as parents 2012 iMac 21.5 to El Capitan and now when I make facetime calls with them, their microphones seem to be echoing really bad. To test if this was a software or hardware issue, I took the drive out of the iMac (Samsung 850 EVO 500gb) and put it into a usb enclosure and booted it up on my Retina iMac 27 which has been running Yosemite and doing just fine. Upon loading up with the Samsung with El Capitan, the echo sounds came along with the drive.
Is anyone else getting these annoying echoes and is there a solution? It's definitely software related as both systems were fine before the upgrade and I tested with a perfectly running system on Yosemite.
iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Hello treeyou,
Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an echo in FaceTime on your Mac is not what you expect. The following articles will be helpful in troubleshooting whether this issue more hardware or software related, as well as if this is a user specific or system wide issue.
1. First I would test FaceTime on the Mac with headphones plugged in and see if the echo persists. Also, make sure you're using the correct Microphone and Output options in the Video menu of the FaceTime app.
FaceTime for Mac (El Capitan): Choose which camera or microphone to use
2. Test this issue with FaceTime in a new user on the Mac, as this will help narrow down if this is user specific or system wide.

Cheers!
