Q: How do i update an existing backup.  Sounds easier or faster than creating a new backup each time.

Do I need to make a full backup each time or can I update my backup without creating duplicates?  I can't find the procedure.

You can't update backups - only create new ones.  Back-ups just happen in the background when the phone is plugged into power, on wifi and not being used. Pretty easy and straightforward.

Backups are also incremental in that once you have created the first backup, subsequent backups should not take nearly as long as the first one. However, if you have added a lot of content since the last backup, the current backup will take some time to complete. That's one of the reasons why it is a very good idea to backup on a regular basis.

OK, I think I got it.  Once I have copied my iTunes media folder to my flash drive and backed up my entire library the first time; I can follow the directions in the article again and not get a separate backup.  I just drag the iTunes media folder from its location on my mac to the iTunes folder on my flash drive and only new media will be added.  Basically like syncing?

When you move your iTunes library to the new computer and backup the first time, it may take a while for the first backup. But each subsequent backup will not take that long.
