Waking up my mac

Just started to notice (before and after recent update to El Capitan) that my mac goes to sleep (ie black screen) after I have not used it for about 10 minutes but it does not wake up (Touching the keyboard does not do anything) until I gently depress the power button. Do I have hardware or software issues. The computer is a mid 2014 model but was purchased new by me in Nov 2015.

Last week I had to take it to the Genius Bar because of issues related to the recent update to El Capitan which affected hardware.
