Q: Free Numbers for iPad

HI.

I know that iWork apps are free for anyone who bought an iOS device after 2013. I have an iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6 that were bought after 2016, but Numbers app is still not free for me. What can I do to get it for free?

iPad Air, iOS 9.3.2

    Hello sergey_moscow,

Thanks for asking for help with getting Numbers free here in the Apple Support Communities. I understand how important it is to get all your bundled apps on your device.

This article will assist you with the instructions, and even offers screenshots, to get the Numbers App downloaded and installed on your iPad for free. Get Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iMovie, GarageBand, and iTunes U for free on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Thanks and have a great day!

    Thank you for your answer.

I've seen this article before and I don't find it helpful. I have no "Made by Apple" link in the AppStore. image.png

    Hey sergey_moscow,

Thanks for following up and for the screenshot showing that you in fact do not have the Made by Apple section as described in the Apple help article Get Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iMovie, GarageBand, and iTunes U for free on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. There are a few reasons this may be happening.

    1. I see that you stated these devices were purchased in 2016. If the devices were purchased from anywhere except Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller directly, the apps may have been claimed by another person's Apple ID, and attached to that device's serial number. This can also happen in cases where stores get devices returned to them, and you or I would then purchase it at a discount from an open box sale. If this is the case, you will need to contact Apple Support and speak to the iTunes Store Department. You can contact Apple Support directly using this link: Contact Apple Support.

    2. Another reason this can happen is if you accepted the apps under another Apple ID. This is similar to the first issue, but this would be related to your own Apple ID, not another customer's. If this is the case, be sure to use the Apple ID that you originally accepted the apps on when attempting to download.

    3. If you changed countries since accepting the apps, is the third reason this can happen. You will need to speak to Apple Support to check what options are available to you if this has happened.

Since I can not be sure that these are the direct cause for the issue you are currently experiencing, I want to offer one other thing you can try before contacting Apple Support for more assistance.

           1. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store, tap your Apple ID, and tap Sign Out.

           2. Restart the iOS device.

           3. Once the device is powered back on, enter your Apple ID and password in Settings > iTunes & App Store to sign in again.

See if you now have the section called Apps Made by Apple page in the App Store to see if the apps are now free or have an iCloud icon. You may also want to check in the Purchased tab and the Update tab to see if the apps are now listed for you to click on and accept.

Thanks again for continuing your search for help here in the Apple Support Communities. Have a great day.

I tried change iTunes Apple ID registered in the USA. And wow, I see Quick Link "Apps Made By Apple". Of course, apps not free for me, because I activate my device from my main Apple ID. My main account registered in Russia, and account sergey_moscow registered in Russia.

So, i think, this bug for Russian accounts(

And when I activated iPhone, he show me Apple apps. I downloaded Pages only, and still free for me.
