I Am bombarded with trash articles from the Washington Post on my Apple devices. How do I remove or block their feed?

I had to disable Siri Suggestions in general settings that seemed to do the trick as that page is blank but you can still use Siri to do your searches.
I have come to the conclusion that unfollowing the "Politics" and "Top Headlines" category is the best way to proceed.Unliking the WP, removing them from the "featured" list has done nothing. Hiding their articles and un-liking their posts has ceased to do anything. It's absolutely astounding how this vile trash that is destroying the collective consciousness - rises to the top of the feed. Second thought, maybe I should just delete the news app altogether? ...So I have to seek out the news ... and then I can kick myself for doing so after.
I too want to remove this from my devices

I also want this horrendous garbage off my phone.
1. Open news app
2. Select "search" from the bottom menu
3. Type "The Washington Post" and search
4. Click on the Washington post
5. In the upper right hand corner, there is a symbol of a heart with a strike through it. Click this and it will dislike the Washington post and not show you any more of their news.
I never post on these sites, but I truly cannot stand such biased, opinionated news and had to share with others how to not be bothered with it.
The search screen shows trending news items based on your location.
If you would prefer to turn this feature off, go to: Settings > General > Spotlight Search - turn off News.
If you would like to suggest that Apple adds options to exclude and/or specify preferred news sources (similar to adding favourites for the News app), you can submit feedback here:
That doesn't work either. I am also getting this junk on my company provided ipad. some of it is very offensive and I cannot get it to stop. I have selected the mute feed and it still comes up. Hopefully and update of IOS is in the works.
This works, but it takes away all news feeds. I guess cnn, nyt, and all the others will have to pay the price for apple's inability to allow users to control the junk coming to their phone. I have forwarded this to all my coworkers so they can get this junk off their company ipads as well.
Thanks
I live in Canada, if it gives me new suggestions based on location then I feel it would give me a Canadian new source.... not TWP.
I think it's an inside partnership with Apple and Washington post and other poorly chosen media types and we should have more freedom to choose what comes up on our news feed. ( or it should be a lot easier to delete out news sources we don't like)
My polite post suggesting that west coast politics may have played a part in removing a users ability to block media from WaPo , Vox, NYT etc was met with a block/removal for "flaming". So Ill try a different angle and simply pose the question; Why would this feature be removed? I simply have no time for Russia Russia Russia 24/7.
I Did that and it has no effect on the feed to the home screen, only the news app itself.
I hate auto content: here is the solution! Scroll down to Mute Channel.
Launch the News app, tap Favorites at the bottom, tap Edit on the top right, tap the 'X' on the feeds you want to remove.
It pops up everywhere! Why cant we control this?
Go to Settings/General/Spotlight Search and turn off Spotlight Suggestions.
