What is General error (41)?

Okay, so i had to import the footage onto my drive and now it won't open, i just get General Error (41). any suggestions?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

sounds like it could be corrupted media ... will the files open in Quicktime Player?

no, it is an unfinished project and it says that it cannot be opened

you might have misunderstood me (or visa versa)

1. try to open the source clips (not the project file) in Quicktime Player, this is to verify whether the media file has become corrupted

2. try disconnecting the media hard disc first, and the opening the project file into FCE ... to see if the project file will open without the media attached

Are you trying to open a new project file from the latest version of FCE in an older version of FCE?

the files seem fine, it's just when opening the project that i get the error, so yes the files themselves will open in Quicktime

Every time I have gotten a general (41) is when I have tried to open a newer project (v 5.1.2) with an older version (v5.1)

Make sure you have the latest version installed.

I know you've said that you do, but make sure again (just to make sure)
