Q: How will Apple update Apple TV for 4K HDTV

I just purchased a 4K HDTV and would like to know if the upgrade to Apple TV to accommodate 4K HDTVs will be an upgrade to the 4th Generation Apple TV or will I have to buy the 5th generation Apple TV?

Hardwire specs for ATV 4 do not include compatibility with 4K HDTV.

Apple hardware (not hardwire, sorry) specs do not indicate 4K support, so I would assume Yes.
We might be pleasantly surprised, but I wouldn't count on it....
