Memory storage on iPhone 6

If I only have one PDF and stored on my iPhone, why is iBooks you some 38 MB of storage space?

The PDF alone may be 38MB's ..

Even if your iPhone storage is 16GB's, 38MB's of storage space is very minimal.

I reset the phone. Now it's back to normal.
