My Apple remote recently only controls volume while I am watching DVDs or streaming on my iMac. I have the latest updates on my iMac. It seems all questions/answers relating to remotes applies to Apple TV. Please advise.

What iMac do you have and what Mac OS version is is running? This forum covers iMacs made between 1998 and 2005; newer models may not show the same behavior with an Apple remote.
Note: iOS as show in your equipment profile cannot run on a Mac computer, only Apple's mobile devices. Doing "About this Mac" from your Apple menu will show your actual Mac OS version.
