Hello Nilanga sankalpa!

I'd certainly want to get my iMessage activated and working normally. I use it to message most of my contacts. Thanks for providing the message you're seeing. There's a few things we can try.

There's this article with the steps we want: If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support

Start with these specifically:

Check your device settings

  1. Make sure that you’re connected to a cellular data or Wi-Fi network. If you're using an iPhone, you'll need SMS messaging to activate your phone number with iMessage and FaceTime. Depending on your carrier, you might be charged for this SMS.
  2. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure that you've set up your time zone correctly.

Turn off and restart iMessage and FaceTime

  1. Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
  2. Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.
  3. Restart your device.
  4. Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on.

If you're still seeing an error, then you'll want to contact your wireless carrier to make sure SMS text messages are being sent and received normally since that can affect the activation process and the iPhone is already up to date with iOS 9.3.2.

Warm regards.

Hi chris_g1,

Thanks for the info regarding steps for reactivating facetime/imessage. However, this issue is not isolated to a few people, but is happening widely across different devices and platforms (just do a google search to see the amount of discussions). There is some bad bug in how activation is happening from an ios or os x device for facetime/imessage. It is specially true after a repair, or a migration to a new device. Not sure if the higher command is informed of this, but there seems to be no official word on this problem and any fixes that Apple may be working on. Can you report this incident to any higher authority? I, of course would be posting a question at the Mac forum regarding this problem.

Best,

Deep
