how to set one of my pictures as screensaver

I can't figure out how to set one of my own pictures as the screensaver on my iMac...how do I do this, please?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Screen Saver > choose one of the modes that uses a picture > Screen Saver Options > Choose Folder...


Done with reference to Mavericks OS.


Clearly this will work best when you have more than one image.


I presume you meant Screen Saver and not Desktop background (same preference group)?

I guess I just don't get it....I select the photo I want to be the only photo for my screensaver. Looking at the left side of the page I do not understand which of the items listed is to set just one picture and not have it moving or anything else. I just want the one picture to stay stationary. This used to be easy but not anymore...sorry...I am really trying to figure this out 😟

We keep on saying folder and we mean folder not a single image.


As already stated, a static image is not a saving your screen. The idea behind a screen saver is there is no static image on the display. The placement of the image is constantly changing and does not burn into a single location causing excessive wear on the elements in that location.
