Q: Can you add a file to a Compressor setting?
We use a custom Compressor audio setting for Final Cut, where the audio from a video is exported as an MP3 for a Podcast feed. It all works well, but we'd like to add an audio intro to the podcast, and the easiest way to do that would be for the Compressor setting to include the audio intro and attach it to the beginning of the Final Cut export. That way, we could hit "export" from Final Cut and upload that new mp3 file to our podcast immediately. I'm trying to streamline our process and save some time.
It's a complicated question, but does anyone know if it's possible? Thanks!
Note: We cannot just put the podcast intro audio in the Final Cut timeline, as we are also exporting a video file at the same time, which does not need the audio intro.

Compressor is not an editor, it doesn't work that way. What you'd want to do is create your intro in your timeline in FCPX. Make it a Compound Clip, or stand alone audio clip. Just drop it into the timeline first, done. But now, a Compressor preset won't include adding more media to your transcode settings.
What I'd do, is edit your Timeline, then do one of two things. First, you could duplicate that Project timeline (Cmd-D), call the new one XYZ - Audio. Insert the audio clip at the start (Cmd-W) and export as audio. Or you could just insert the Intro into your timeline from the start. When done, export the audio only, then delete the intro at the start and export as video.
If this is a regular series, Make one Library for the series. Create a new Event for each episode. Create an Event for your stock media, which would include your Intro audio clip. This is how we do our reality TV show, which has reoccurring intros, outtros, bumpers, etc.
