Q: Where are my iBooks stored on time machine

Hello,

I recently had to install a fresh copy of OS X El Capitan onto my 2010 iMac 27" desktop and I am having trouble locating the file extension that had over 100 books.  Most of my books were conversions when I went from kindle to iPad so I didn't lose anything I had already bought but I cannot locate my iBook library anywhere in any of the back-ups in my time machine and am worried I may have lost them all.

I have tried going to GO in FINDER and holding OPTION while clicking LIBRARY, CONTAINERS ETC but could't find my books.

Hoping I am just looking in the wrong place. Any advice would be most helpful.

    Hello bkings001,

Thank you for being part of the Apple Community!

If I understand correctly, you are unable to locate your iBook files after installing El Capitan.  I am a big reader myself and would hate to lose those files.

It looks like you are on the right path.  El Capitan stores the files in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBooks/Books.  You should be able to restore these from your Time Machine backup using the usual method.  If you need a refresher on how to restore using Time Machine, check here:

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac

    Have a great day!

Unfortunately, When i do what you said above there is still nothing in the file extension under books.  I was under the impression time machine was supposed to back up the entire computer.  Looks like I am out 100's of dollars worth of books.  I checked even my earliest back up that I have and nothing is there. Foiled by Apple again.
