Apple TV "Peer-to-Peer" Airplay not working with Amazon

I have an Apple TV 3rd gen with P2P Airplay enabled. I can airplay my iPad's screen to it (without WiFi on either), but it says "An error occured loading this content" when I try to Airplay a downloaded Amazon Movie (from Prime). Any ideas?

Thanks!

iPad Pro, iOS 9.3.2

LedbyLight is trying to watch a downloaded Amazon movie. Amazon allows users to download movies and shows via the iOS app for offline viewing. There would be no DRM verification over the internet, as the DRM would be time-sensitive and embedded.

This is similar to how iTunes allows rentals to be downloaded for offline viewing. Embedded DRM blocks the user from accessing the video 24 hours after the video is first accessed. Amazon's DRM is slightly different. According to an Amazon help article, "The time period you have to view a downloaded video while your device is offline varies by title."

I have done this with Amazon and iTunes movies for viewing on airplanes and in a cabin with no network connection. It is a great option under these circumstances!

Did you ever find a solution to this? I can "stream" an amazon prime movie to the apple tv but I can't airplay any downloaded movies. It spins and spins. I'm starting to think Amazon blocked the ability to airplay a downloaded movie. We're going on vacation (and will have limited internet connectivity) in a couple of days and the plan had been to bring the Apple TV and my iPad for offline viewing.
