Virtual interface and thunderbolt bridge connection

Hi guys,

I have a macbook pro late 2014. It is running OS X 10.9.5.

When I go to my network settings in the system preferences there is a thunderbolt bridge connection which I keep deleting and it keeps re-adding itself. I get notified each time with a window that says 'new thunderbolt bridge connection detected, click apply to accept'....the only option is to click OK._e

I also have a virtual interface set up in the name of thunderbolt bridge- which I keep deleting and it also keeps re-appearing.

I have tried everything but cannot figure out why this is happening.

I also had a 'sanbox_exec' in my exceptions box in my firewall setting. Is this linked?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Greetings faz5550,

Thanks for joining us at the Apple Support Communities with your question about the Thunderbolt Bridge. I'm a longtime Mac user and I know that sometimes these popup messages can be confusing, especially when you haven't come across it before.

Simply put, the Thunderbolt Bridge is a way to connect Macs together using a Thunderbolt cable for file sharing purposes, among other things. You probably started seeing it when you installed OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks. There's nothing wrong with it, and if you want to ignore it you should be able to by clicking OK and then Apply next time it comes up. It should leave you alone. You can delete it too, but it may just keep coming back to let you know it's there.

If it's still bothering you, go to  > System Preferences > Network > then select Thunderbolt Bridge on the lefthand side, and below the list of networks, click on the gear and select Make Service Inactive.

If you decide to use the Thunderbolt Bridge in the future, you'll want to make it active again.

Best wishes!
