Q: Email address in Settings>iCloud>Advanced>Mail is not mine.

The email address on my Mail in not mine. How do I change it? I was sending an email to my friend and she did not recognize it becuase it was not my email address but the content was mine. Why is that?

Also, after that incident I went to my iCloud in settings and found out in the Advance (located in the bottom part of iCloud) that the email address on Mail was not mine. I don't know what I did or what happened that the email was wrong and the worst part was that it can't be change. I clicked it like a thousand times but it just cant be change. Please help me.

Also, I already changed this (Settings>iCloud at the top email address/ID) but everytime I send an email to my friends, the email address it was from is not my email address. I went to iCloud in the advanced and saw that the email wasn't mine. How do I change it? I can't click on the email and change it.

    Hi Jsll,

Looks like we have an Apple ID mix up going on, not to worry! The best way to have this resolved is to sign out of the incorrect Apple ID showing in your iCloud settings. This will also remove any data linked to that particular Apple ID account. You can always save some of this data locally to your iPhone instead of deleting it. If you are un aware of any other Apple IDs that you may have, you should try searching for any Apple IDs associated with your info. Once you find the correct email address/Apple ID, you can use it to set up your iPod touch. The links below can assist you with the procedures.

Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    Manage Apple ID

Once you find the correct Apple ID that you are familiar with using on your iPad touch. You can sign back in and be up and running in no time at all! Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Have a great day.

    Hey Jsll,

No problem. So is the Alias Apple ID the one that is showing on your iPhone? Also, is the Primary Apple ID an @icloud.com email? If your primary email address used for an Apple ID is not an @icloud.com email address, the alias was created so it can be used for your iCloud data on your iPhone. You should use the primary email address in your iPhone Mail app to send your emails. You can disable the alias iCloud email in your iCloud settings on your iPhone by sliding the switch to off. This will prevent you from sending emails from the alias.

    Happy mailing!

Yes, my Primary Apple ID is an @icloud.com email. Is it possible to delete the alias (not mine) and create another alias (which is already my own)? Thank you so much for the help! You're a life saver

    Hey Jsll

Absolutely! You can manage your iCloud email via www.icloud.com . Please follow the steps below to learn how to remove the alias.

Change, turn off, turn on, or delete an alias

    1. In iCloud Mail, click the Action pop-up menu  in the sidebar, then choose Preferences.

    2. Click Accounts.

    3. Select the alias in the Addresses list, then do any of the following:

    4. To choose a new color for incoming messages, click a Label Color option. Alias labels appear only in the iCloud Mail app on iCloud.com.

    5. To change the name or label, enter a new alias name and label in the fields provided. Alias names must contain between 3 and 20 characters.

    6. To turn off an alias, select “Disable alias.”

    7. When an alias is turned off, all email messages addressed to that alias are returned to the sender.

    8. To turn on an alias, deselect “Disable alias.”

    9. To delete an alias, click Delete.

    Click Done.

iCloud: Create or change email aliases

Once you remove the alias, you can go ahead and create a different one.

    Have a great day.

Despite the fact that apple instructions that were quoted above tell that you can delete an alias, I do not believe it is possible, so try to create new alias - the one you actually want and then disable the current/wrong one. Once you do - ideally your emails will be coming the way you want them to look. It is possible that once you do that your old email threads cease to continue and you will start the new thread, cause apple is kind of creating new mailbox for you.

    Hi Jsll,

If the iCloud email you would like to delete is not an Alias but rather the primary email, you would need to connect with Apple ID Account Security via phones to request that this Apple ID be deleted. You can use the link below to contact this team. Once you delete this ID, you can create the new primary Apple ID of your choice.
