Q: camera disappeared from list of hardware - why no fix from apple?

My Macbook Air late 2010 model A1369 has a software problem. It says "no camera is installed". I have tried all suggested fixes and nothing moves it from the basic point that it does not recognize the camera when looking at USB or any application requiring a camera. I am using the latest version of EC 11.11.5. I first upgraded from earlier version 10.10.6.

I have tried all suggestions mentioned online. From Terminal sudo Killall VCDAssistant to other commands. Terminal command will not work.

Tried various re-boots, resets, etc. nothing budges it. Created new user, tried different applicaitons requiring the iSight camera, nothing working. Appple knows how to have the software recognize the camera so why not help.

MacBook Air (13-inch Late 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.5)
