Q: fcpx - timeline export problems

Hello

I cannot export my timeline from FCPX. My export destinations are greyed out for this particular project and the error message -  'has missing or offline titles, effects or generators.' comes up. It also says - 'This item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera.' but there is no SD card or camera attached.

Can anyone suggest anything to rectify this?

Thanks in advance,

Angie

Most probably one of two possibilities:  the original media import wasn't completed before the session was ended or if Optimized was created at import, the transcoding had not been completed. Did you optimize? Do you have the original media – either on the camera's card or on a copy of the card (or archive)? If you do you can use the reimport command that is available from the File menu.

    Hi Russ,

The reimport option is not highlighted. The reimport is grey. Any other suggestions?

Do you have the card, or a copy of the card (or archive) that FCP  can see?

If you do, select your event and then File > Import > Reimport

If you have already erased the card and did  not make a copy, then the Reimport option will not be a solution. But as I mentioned before, your missing media may be related to an interrupted transcode. You could try transcoding the clips to Optimized, working from the Browser.

    Let us know,

    Hi Russ,

I just relinked all the media but it hasn't brought back the export options. It was asking to relink music tracks and sound effects from the FCPX supplied music files. I couldn't figure out how to do that.

'Reimport ' is still not a highlighted option.

I do have the media saved on a drive and backed up on another.

However I have just spent a few days editing and am loath to start the whole process again especially if I end up at the same place!

    Try this

    1. Create a new library and import the video you need into it. Make sure the clips are fully imported before doing anything else.

    2. Drag the clips from the new library into the events in which they're supposed to be

    No guarantees. Works for some.
