pdf file prints symbols instead of letters/numbers

Hi,

pdf file prints in symbols (Squares) instead of letters/numbers. Tried different printers, assume it's not a fault in the print settings as problem occurs with all printers used. What can I do? Would appreciate a step-by-step description of possible solutions. Thanks.

Open the application Font Book. Select all fonts and select 'Validate Fonts' from the File menu.

In the event the system fonts are not the cause this can also be caused by an element in the PDF that causes a post script error when it's time to print.

Sometimes re-saving the PDF as a new PDF or when that fails an EPS, JPG or PNG file will correct the problem.

Failing that resetting the printing system and reconfiguring the printer may resolve the issue.
